FEET ON THE STREET
We are a non profit organisation that specialises in helping those in need when they need it most. We have been generously supported by many great brands, such as Hovis, Innocent, Get More, Propercorn plus many more in agreeing to donate products each week for our cause.
We organise essential food bags and necessities to all those who are in need of support. These food bags include loafs of bread, milk, toiletries, fresh fruit and veg and many more. Our main goal is to ensure that no child goes hungry and that everyone gets the support they need during these difficult times.
All forms of donation are accepted and appreciated for the children. This includes clothing, toiletries, plants, toys etc. We understand that a financial contribution may sometimes not be possible, and we appreciate every kind of donation to help put a smile on a child's face and help a family who need it.
We work closely not only with local schools such as Mannorfield Primary who serve one of the most deprived communities in the U.K, but along side local churches and other charity organisations to ensure that our food bags and donations are packaged and delivered to the children and families in need.
WHAT IS HUNGER POVERTY?
It's reported that 1.4m people are living in poverty In the U.K, and that 2.5m British children now live in food insecure households. Ultimately, this means that families can't afford to provide their children with an adequate diet and majority of these children will need "free meals" provided to them during their time at school, which may be their only hot meal of the day.
HOW DOES HUNGER EFFECT CHILDREN?
Children who are victims of hunger poverty often end up with development issues along with medical difficulties due to malnutrition. The rates of children admitted to hospital due to rickets (a disease caused by malnutrition) are higher than ever, and this consequently will mean they will miss out on key parts of school and education.
HOW TOGETHER WE CAN HELP
Together with donations, hard work and contributions, we can ensure that the children who would normally rely on school meals are getting the essentials they need to progress and stay healthy during these times. Some children that are without our help will struggle tremendously, and it's up to us to ensure we help as much as we can.
